The Selangor SUKMA team advanced to the Semi-Finals of the 2022 Sukan Malaysia (SUKMA) football event after defeating Pahang 7-6 in the deciding penalty shootout just now at UM Arena after ending the game 0-0 after extra time.

According to the team's goalkeeper, Azeem Rizal, the team gave their best to advance to the next round.

"First of all, Alhamdulillah! The players gave their best, for me personally, it was a very intense match from the beginning up until the penalty shootout. I would like to thank my teammates and coaching staff for working hard to get to this point.

In the end, the match was forced into penalties to decide the fate of the team, so I gave my best even though I am relatively small, but for me, evidently it was not a problem as we managed to win 7-6 just now," said Azeem.

Azeem Rizal saved two penalty kicks from the Pahang team and was awarded the best player of the match.

The Semi-Finals will see the Selangor SUKMA team against either Terengganu at the UKM Stadium on September 21.
